TEAM
About me
I’m a qualified counsellor based in Marylebone and Clapham Common, supporting people with a wide range of challenges. My approach is integrative, meaning I use a variety of therapeutic methods tailored to each client’s needs.
In my private practice, I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, and life transitions. I’ve also supported people facing drug and alcohol dependency, domestic violence, and work-related challenges.
My past experience includes working with people with drug and alcohol misuse issues at NHS Drug and Alcohol Treatment Consortium in Southwest London as well as schools supporting children and parents. Additionally, I have volunteered with CRUSE Bereavement Care, helping people through their grief journeys.
I am accredited member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) whereby I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to their Professional Conduct Procedure. I am committed to ongoing professional development, and my work is fully insured. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
What happens in therapy?
Most of us experience difficulties at some stage in our lives. This may include suffering from depression, anxiety, dealing with bereavement or other loss, relationship issues or addictive behaviour. It can also include unresolved issues from the past such as previously experienced trauma, or simply feeling stuck.
“We are only as needy as our unmet needs”. John Bowlby
My role is to listen to you and gain a good understanding of your needs. I aim to provide the right conditions in which we can build a therapeutic relationship whereby you are able to share any thoughts or feelings without feeling judged. Feeling safe and having the time and the space dedicated to you can be of great help to enable you to work through your issues and instigate change.
Considering to come to therapy for the first time can be an intimidating experience. You may worry that your issue is not big enough and therefore not worthy of the therapist’s time. You might think that the therapist might not be able to understand you and your concerns because that has been your experience when trying to talk to your friends and family. Or you may simply feel fearful of opening up and talking about your thoughts and feelings you have tried so hard to suppress for a long time. It is normal to feel apprehensive when entering unfamiliar territory, but the good news is you have taken the first step in looking for a therapist.
During our initial appointment, we will discuss your concerns and I will be asking you questions about why you have decided to seek therapy and what your expectations are from the process. We will begin to explore the history of the difficulties you are experiencing and this will also be an opportunity to decide how we can work together therapeutically in future sessions. It is important that you find a therapist you feel comfortable working with and you are under no obligation to return after the first session. You also need to consider if you are able to commit to regular attendance and engagement in the therapeutic process.
Following the initial assessment, sessions will last for 50 minutes, and will usually be at the same time and same day each week. I offer both short term and open-ended therapy, and we will discuss what is most suitable for you personally.

Do you have questions?
Some questions you may have about counselling in general and my practice in particular.
How long do I have to come to counselling for?
There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions you will have to attend and it is the client’s decision on how many sessions they would like to attend.
Do I have to come to counselling every week?
Initially, if you can afford it, it is advisable to come every week because the work needs to get started and is likely to be more effective if there is continuity. However, ultimately the client decides the frequency of the sessions they wish to attend.
How much do you charge for counselling?
Depending on location, the current fees for each 50 minute session are between £80 and £130.
How can I pay for counselling?
You can pay with a bank card or bank transfer. For online counselling, fees are payable in advance.
What happens if I miss a counselling session?
If you need to re-arrange or cancel a session there is normally no problem provided you let me know and give 24 hours notice. If you fail to turn up or don’t give 24 hours notice of the change, the session will be charged in full. In exceptional circumstances (i.e. serious medical emergency, close family bereavement or accident) I may not charge you if you fail to give the 24 hours notice.
If I don't live in the local area, can I still have counselling with you?
Yes. I offer online counselling or via telephone.
Is what I tell you confidential?
Yes, it is confidential, but there are limits to it. What that means is that there are a very few occasions when I might need to talk to another trusted professional adult about what you tell me. If I felt you or someone else is at risk of being hurt, I have a duty of care to consult with other relevant professionals.
What records do you keep and why do you keep them?
At the end of every session, I will make brief notes. Their purpose is simply to help me remember the key points of our discussion for next time. All the information is unidentifiable as no names are mention in the notes, they are coded.
How are those records stored?
The records are handwritten and are stored in a locked cabinet. The code for your case is stored elsewhere in another secure place. This meets the security requirements of the GDPR.
How long are those records kept for?
Records will be kept securely for a period of 60 months (this is a requirement by my insurer) and will then be securely destroyed.
